Chippewa VACATION DESCRIPTION

wave-sep-dark

The ultimate vacation package for folks that think outside and enjoy camping modern style in a Safari Tent at our Paddlers Village Campground on Lake Superior. Forget about wrestling with a tent and all that gear and sleeping on the ground. Safari Tents have a wooden floor, bunk beds, futon, table and chairs, a refrigerator, electrical outlets and WIFI. You have your own outdoor grill and a firepit for evening fires and roasting hot dogs and marshmallows. Many folks tell us that our restrooms are the cleanest they’ve ever seen. You should just bring your own bedding and cooking items if needed.

The ‘Taste of the Rocks” kayak tour is our 1/2 day guided Pictured Rocks Kayak Tour.  You will see Bridal Veil Falls, Sea Caves, Kissing Rock, The Painted Coves, a shipwreck,  this tour take about 3 hours and still sees most of the major highlights Pictured Rocks has to offer!

The Lunch Cruise around Grand Island will include one of your meals at the Duck Pond Eatery and Beer Garden starting after lunch you meet your Captain and climb aboard the 40 foot M/V Uncle Ducky, a custom built catamaran. Your Captain and crew will take you out and around Grand Island National Recreation Area and delight you with the history of the Native Americans that called this place home for centuries all the while spotting eagles and their nests perched atop the 200 foot sandstone cliffs and the beautiful colors they offer all along the north shore. Take pictures of the 2 lighthouses on the island and enjoy the remoteness and solitude of this island paradise.

The Au Train River is a gentle paddle through the Hiawatha National Forest taking from 3-4 hours from the South Bridge to the “take out spot” at the North Bridge. Enjoy this delightful paddle where you might see a variety of birds and wildlife as they come down to the river to drink. You might see ducks, songbirds, great blue herons, kingfishers, muskrats, and turtles. Loons and eagles often soar overhead. Enjoy this quiet relaxing trip for the entire family without rapids or portages along the river. . . . And don’t forget your camera.

You will be eating and wetting your whistles at the Duck Pond Eatery and Beer Garden which is located next to the Paddlers Village. In addition to the free entrée on the Grand Island Sunset Dinner Cruise you will receive 2 additional dinner or lunch entrees.
