About the Au Train Campground

We have 13 pitch-your-own-tent (PYOT) rustic campsites (walk-in access only), 15 furnished safari tents, 23 furnished Yurts, two grand yurts, and three furnished mini-tipis! All sites have firepits, outdoor charcoal grills, and a picnic table. All of our Hiawatha National Forest yurts, safari tents, and tipis are on wood platforms with solar lighting inside. The grand yurts have full electricity and mini fridges! All of our sites at the Au Train Beach campground are walk-in access only with just a short walk from the parking area (utility wagons are available for your gear). Wi-Fi is available in a common area at the campground.

Most of our Hiawatha National Forest safari tents and yurts sleep up to five people with a twin over double bunk bed and a futon and solar-powered lighting inside with a USB port on the battery bank to charge your devices. Restrooms and showers are located just a short walk away.

Pets are allowed with a $25 pet fee. All you need to bring is your sleeping bag, gear, and cookware. Ice and firewood are available for sale.

Au Train Beach Resort and Campground is centrally located in Alger County in the magnificent Upper Peninsula of Michigan. We are in the heart of the Hiawatha National Forest, easily accessible via highways M-28 or U.S. 2, yet only 12 miles west of Munising and 20 miles east of Marquette. Hiawatha National Forest glamping gives you the opportunity to enjoy some of the most breathtaking and exciting areas of the Upper Peninsula. The forest has shorelines along Lakes Superior, Michigan, and Huron, presenting you with numerous ways to enjoy nature. With an abundance of hiking trails, scenic viewing areas, and historic lighthouses, you’re sure to find something to do. There also are numerous islands to explore during your time on the water.

This is the perfect place to get away from it all. Mother Nature treats the area to a blaze of color during late summer and early fall! The Au Train River Song Bird Trail is a must do.
