Munising, Michigan’s summers are jam-packed with fun and activity. Don’t discount the joy of August in the Upper Peninsula during your vacation planning. The U.P. State Fair, the Moving Vietnam Memorial, and Pictured Rocks are all reasons to visit the UP, but don’t forget about music – especially here in Munising where the city hosts a Tuesday evening concert series for the month of August.

Every Tuesday from 6:30 to 8:30, residents and visitors will find lively music and fun for the whole family. Bring a lawn chair or two if you have them, but you won’t need much else to enjoy this free series.

What’s Playing at the Bayshore Park Concert Series

Get ready to tap your toes and maybe even cut a rug with these upcoming acts.

  • August 7: Angels and Outlaws. Find out what happens when old country finds its new sounds with this five-piece modern country band hailing from Madison, Wisconsin. Discover more about this fresh take on country from the Angels and Outlaws’ website.
  • August 14: Colin Allured. Music doesn’t get much purer than when you hear it from the lips of singer/songwriters. Colin Allured is one such treasure. His music harkens back to the early days of the most famous of those singers but with unique melodies and great instrumentals. Allured is a must-see this month. Check out his songs and collaborations.
  • August 21: Iron Daisy. Make everyone in the family happy – no matter what their favorite genre is – when you take a listen to the sounds of Iron Daisy. With a mix of rock, pop, and country, their tunes will have everyone on their feet. They play across the Upper Peninsula, so if you miss them on Tuesday, you can find their next gig on Facebook.
  • August 28. Drednot. This three-person band has its roots in 90s alt rock and have been influenced by TOOL, Rush, Pearl Jam, and Alice-in-Chains. Their take isn’t what you’d expect, however, since they are mainly acoustic. These guys can show you how to rock-out without the amp. Watch these videos – and hum along to the ones you know – to see what these guys offer.

If it rains, don’t worry about missing your favorite performer. Each performance has rain dates for the following Thursday.
